- Ensure all bolts are tightened at the correct torque
Luxury Seat Assembly
Aerospace
- Digital instructions
- Estic | DC pulsing tools
- Socket Trays
USE CASE
Collins Aerospace is a leader in providing high-end innovative aerospace solutions, such as luxury seatings for business jets. Comfortable business seats require excellent quality and superb functionality resulting in complex assembly needs. All bolted joints in a seat should be tightened at precise torques in order to guarantee their functionality under all severe circumstances. High-end DC tools gave the operator optimum ergonomics thanks to their pulsing features. To secure zero defect assembly, Ansomatic is used as helping hand to guide operators through this tough seat manufacturing process.
HOW IT WORKS
- As the assembly includes several variants, operator scans the seat to be assembled
- LED shows which socket to take from a socket selector device
- The ergonomic-friendly DC tool will now be enabled to start the tightening job
- On a monitor is clearly shown how many bolts to tighten and in which sequence
- Once all bolts are tightened with the different sockets the seat is released and all data is stored and used for detecting operational improvement opportunities

REQUIREMENTS
- Improve operator ergonomics and productivity through pulsing tools
- Increase accuracy on torque control
- Full transparency on assembly parameters and results
Office Chair Assembly
Diverse Manufacturing
- Estic | DC pulse tools
- Ergonomics
- Traceability
USE CASE
Herman Miller designs high-end luxury office chairs that are as beautiful as they are usefull. To cope with complex assembly requirements, Herman Miller makes use of high-end DC tools. This to guarantee correct assembly under optimal ergonomic conditions thanks to their pulsing feature.
HOW IT WORKS
- Operator scans the chair to be assembled
- Then - the pulse tightening tool will be enabled to start the tightening job
- The tool controller clearly shows how many bolts to tighten
- Once all bolts are tightened the chair is released from its fixture and all tightening data is stored in a database enabling full traceability of the assembly process

REQUIREMENTS
- Ensure high-precision fastening and full assembly traceability
- Increase operator ergonomics to cope with human limitations
- Find a solution for the least accessible assembly projects whilst safeguarding quality
Numerous applications
Off-Highway
- E2E Fastening Solutions
- Smart operator arms
- Assembly contructions
- Mobile Trolleys
- ...
USE CASE
Cat is one of the world’s leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment. Several off-highway vehicles (excavators, wheel loaders,…) have many critical bolted joints like counterweights, swing bearing, axles, etc. In many cases these are not easily accessible. Ansomat did lots of projects at Caterpillar and is recognized as a trusted solution expert for their critical assembly projects. Not only did we provide screw fastening products, we offered various custom solutions including smart arms, assembly constructions, fixed and mobile trolleys with integrated computers and many more.
SOME PROJECTS
- Axle Assembly
- Counterweight Assembly
- Engine Assembly
- Fuel Tank Automation
- Gearbox Assembly
- Sprocket Drive Assembly
- Swing Bearing Assembly
- Ring Gear Assembly
- Valve Assembly
- ...

REQUIREMENTS
- Limit rework through extra inspection gates
- Instantly capture feedback on inspection results through digital work instructions
- Capture image for audit purpose
Product Inspection
Off-Highway
- Digital instructions
- Vision Tracking
- Inspection
- Stanley | DC Tools
- HS-T | Torqbee
- Crane | Wrenchstar
USE CASE
HOW IT WORKS
- Product is moving on a conveyer and inspected through a vision sensor detecting potential flaws like scratches, irregularities, missing components etc...
- If the vision system remarks a deviation, the product is not allowed to go to the next stage
- All results are instantly shown on a large monitor to allow for immediate interventions
- An image is captured and recorded for audit reasons

REQUIREMENTS
- Ensure all critical bolts are correctly tightened considering high production volumes and speed
- Allow to monitor and track fastening results of all vehicles and components
- Boost operator ergonomics
End-to-End Car Assembly line
Automotive
- Traceability
- E2E Fastening Solutions
- Estic | Pulse Tools
USE CASE
Nissan required to have full traceability of fastening results across the full vehicle range of the Infiniti line. They were in need of an end-to-end system that ensures accurate assembly and torque traceability. Besides, several quality gates were needed to be implemented to ensure only vehicles with acceptable torque fittings could leave the factory. Ansomat delivered a complete turnkey package including the design, manufacture, supply, installation and commissioning to monitor and track vehicles and sub-components, control and log data from all DC tool controllers and archive the data on an sever for audit and quality purposes.
HOW IT WORKS
- Car comes in the zone where specific tightening’s need to be done
- Operator picks the correct socket from the socket tray which enables the tool to start the tightening jobs
- On a PC screen is clearly shown how many bolts to tighten
- Once all bolts are tightened the DC tool is disabled again till the next car comes into the assembly zone

REQUIREMENTS
- Avoid barrel leakage
- Fully automated solution to guarantee high productivity rates
Robot Implementation
Diverse Manufacturing
- E2E Fastening Solutions
- Robot
- Smart arms
- Stanley | DC tools
- Vision
USE CASE
Greif is a global leader in industrial packaging products like bulk containers or oil barrels. Oil barrels are produced at high speed to cope with large market demand. A full robot system was required to complete fastening of caps on oil barriers faster and more accurate than humans can.
HOW IT WORKS
- Oil barrel is running on a conveyer and two robots are present to secure the tightening of the 2 caps (a larger & a smaller one)
- Operator picks the correct socket from the socket tray which enables the tool to start the tightening jobs
- Each robot picks a cap from a feeding unit
- A vision system checks where the hole of the barrel is situated
- A DC nutrunner mounted on the robot tightens the cap at accurate torque
- A manipulating arm connected to the robot absorbs reaction forces
