The aviation industry is looking at new technologies to increase cost efficiency and reliability. One of the most critical components of a plane is the engine's booster. Ansomatic is the operators' helping hand at 7 workstations for assembling the engine's booster. We offered a turnkey solution including intelligent screwdriver battery tools and torque click wrenches.

HOW IT WORKS

  • First, the software verifies the correct location of the booster and projections adapt automatically if location is shifted
  • Ansomatic guides operators to fasten 18 bolts in the correct order. This by
      1. Projecting location and sequence of all bolts on the booster
      2. Tracking the position of the tools in real-time
      3. Locking incorrect handlings and projecting corrective alternatives
  • At the end, an image of the finished good is captured and saved for auditing purposes

One Ansomatic workstation takes care of the front park heater assembly to guide operators and to ensure the right product variants or components are picked. Another Ansomatic secures the correct execution of the front axle assembly.

HOW IT WORKS

  • Operator scans barcode with order details
  • Ansomatic takes a picture and compares with a reference picture to ensure the right variant has been taken
  • In case the wrong parts are taken, the software gives visual feedback
  • A label is printed indicating if part assembly succeeded, or if rework is required

Before operators had to go through extensive training to be able to build an engine. However, the quality control was still tainted by human error. With Ansomatic running on 10 workstations, operators learn through AR and are confident to build any engine variant without any mistakes. We delivered a turnkey solution providing cabled and battery torque tools combined with an ergonomic construction to offload operators - this all makes inherently part of a holistic and successful engine assembly operation.

HOW IT WORKS

  • Product is scanned to identify the right variant and starts the required program
  • Vision is used to ensure tools are on the correct bolt before they are allowed to do a tightening
  • Ansomatic uses its vision to check the picking of all the relevant parts and gives visual and audible feedback in case of incorrect handlings
  • All actions are logged and machine intelligence is used to identify problem spots to continuously improve manufacturing speed and quality

DRIV is a world leading original equipment manufacturer delivering high-end semi-finished products to major car manufacturers. Ansomatic is embedded at several work stations, examples include the assembly workstation of shock absorbers for the Mercedez AMG Black Series or the manifold assembly station (a manifold enables a car to remain stable in a road curve). A manifold is very heavy to assemble. That is why we provided an integrated solution including a cobot to handle the heavy weight.

HOW IT WORKS

  • Ansomatic is the central process control management system and easily integrates with the cobot system
  • The cobot presents the manifold in different directions to the operator to handle the weight
  • All instructions are projected on the manifold and literally enables the operator to see instructions in perspective
  • The vision sensor watches over the correct execution of the assembly

Zumtobel is an international leading supplier for integral lightening solutions. For the end-to-end assembly of their outdoor lightening products, they rely on Ansomatic implemented at more than 50 workstations.

HOW IT WORKS

  • The light fixture housing is placed in a box from which the assembly starts gradually
  • Digital work instructions guide operators end-to-end through the assembly process at different workstations
  • Multiple parts are scanned making sure the correct product variant is assembled
  • As an additional inspection check, the product is weighted on a scale and compared to the tolerance range feeded with info from SAP. If the weight is too low, that’s a sign components are missing

Collins Aerospace is a leader in providing high-end innovative aerospace solutions, such as luxury seatings for business jets. Comfortable business seats require excellent quality and superb functionality resulting in complex assembly needs. All bolted joints in a seat should be tightened at precise torques in order to guarantee their functionality under all severe circumstances. High-end DC tools gave the operator optimum ergonomics thanks to their pulsing features. To secure zero defect assembly, Ansomatic is used as helping hand to guide operators through this tough seat manufacturing process.

HOW IT WORKS

  • As the assembly includes several variants, operator scans the seat to be assembled
  • LED shows which socket to take from a socket selector device
  • The ergonomic-friendly DC tool will now be enabled to start the tightening job
  • On a monitor is clearly shown how many bolts to tighten and in which sequence
  • Once all bolts are tightened with the different sockets the seat is released and all data is stored and used for detecting operational improvement opportunities

Herman Miller designs high-end luxury office chairs that are as beautiful as they are usefull. To cope with complex assembly requirements, Herman Miller makes use of high-end DC tools. This to guarantee correct assembly under optimal ergonomic conditions thanks to their pulsing feature.

HOW IT WORKS

  • Operator scans the chair to be assembled
  • Then - the pulse tightening tool will be enabled to start the tightening job
  • The tool controller clearly shows how many bolts to tighten
  • Once all bolts are tightened the chair is released from its fixture and all tightening data is stored in a database enabling full traceability of the assembly process

Cat is one of the world’s leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment. Several off-highway vehicles (excavators, wheel loaders,…) have many critical bolted joints like counterweights, swing bearing, axles, etc. In many cases these are not easily accessible.
